​Devon Havenaar is a construction industry leader, TEDx speaker, and advocate for the personal and professional growth of tradespeople. With a mission to empower construction workers to overcome self-doubt and thrive as leaders, Devon draws from his real-world achievements and a deep commitment to helping others succeed.

Devon began his carpentry career at just 17, earning his journeyman carpenter certification by the age of 22—making him one of the youngest in the country. Early in his career, he represented Local 93 at the prestigious 2018 Carpenters Union Apprenticeship Competition in Blue Mountain. His entrepreneurial drive was evident when he and his wife successfully flipped two homes before embarking on building their dream home together.

As a proven leader, Devon has led crews on prestigious projects for Canada’s two largest contractors in the nation’s capital, consistently earning respect for his people-first leadership style. His dedication to personal growth is reflected in his completion of leadership training in Las Vegas three times, further solidifying his ability to guide teams to success.
 

In his TEDx Talk, Devon introduced the RISE framework—Respect, Invest, Support, Educate—a transformative method for addressing self-doubt, unlocking potential, and building confident leaders in the construction industry. Through his message, he challenges the status quo, calling for a shift in how the industry values and empowers its workforce.
 

A dynamic speaker, Devon inspires audiences with his insights on leadership, mental health, and creating balance in a demanding career. He has appeared in campaigns promoting quitting smoking and starred in Carpenters Union stories, further highlighting his advocacy for personal well-being within the trades.
 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Devon is a devoted husband and father of three, with a fourth child on the way. When he’s not working, he’s likely ripping around on the ATV with his kids, diving into hardcore music, enjoying intense Warzone matches, or getting lost in a good book. Devon’s passion for family, growth, and adventure fuels his commitment to helping others thrive on and off the job site.
